Stories from the Evacuation

As a recipient of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art SECA Award, I worked with SFMOMA on creating an experimental documentary as they prepared to close their doors for 2 and a half years and undergo an extensive renovation.  Over 25,000 art works and 100 employees were moved to temporary locations around the Bay Area.  I love this film because it became an opportunity to work within a larger chaotic narrative structure, injecting fictional characters into the real life upheaval that such events create.

The film was co-written with Jennifer Stuckert and produced with Max Fink and Brad Boyer. The director of photography was Shawn Michienzi and the editor was Greg Janza.  The film features an original score by Silas Hite and sound design by Jeremiah Moore. It’s part of the permanent collection of SFMOMA.
