Short Film: More Real? (or how things will be better with Lisa and me)

This video was commissioned for the Site Santa Fe and Minneapolis Museum of Art exhibition entitled “More Real? Art in the Age of Truthiness.” I proposed to curator Elizabeth Armstrong that the video would appear to be an educational film for the museum, something that people might watch to prepare themselves for the exhibition. I wanted this to feel corporate and somehow completely wrong, as though someone in the museum’s education department had made a terrible mistake. The video begins as a very straightforward educational film, but then it slowly collapses in on itself as the video’s host tries to get to the bottom of his own personal crisis involving his girlfriend.

This film was the winner of the 2012 Golden Gate Award for short film at the San Francisco International Film Festival
