We are not having any trouble in our department, despite what you’ve heard

Jan-Feb 2011 Den Frie Contemporary Art, Copenhagen DK

The Danish Collective Koh-i-Noor curated this exhibition at Den Frie. The film was funded by a grant from the Danish Arts Council and a residency with the city of Copenhagen from Jan-March. This was my second installation/informational video. I wanted this to play in the lobby and appear to be a promo video that one might watch while they wait in line to purchase tickets. But I also wanted it to appear that someone made a bad decision or perhaps hired a very amateurish production company.

We shot this during the opening hours of the art center is a performance, everyone played a role. I wanted to create drama in the space, in real time as the production fell apart. Visitors to the Den Frie were not sure if what they were seeing was real or staged.

The video also premiered on Danish Television and premiered in the US at the 2012 San Francisco International Film Festival.
